HISTORY - A TOUR OF ST SWITHUN'S PARISH CHURCH

The Parish Church superseded an Anglo-Saxon chapel, dedicated to St. Swithun, built as much as 200 years before. The chapel still stands just to the south west of the church. This ancient building probably survived because it has remained useful, presently as a farm building. The windows are 14th Century, suggesting that the chapel was a significant part of the priory at that time.
