NEWS - END OF THE STANLEY'S WASTE & RECYCLING SCHEME

Despite being heralded as a success the Stanley's waste and recycling scheme has been abandoned. Cost is a major consideration according to Cllr. Libby Bird from Stroud District Council. Stanley's residents thought they were saving the planet by reducing landfill and the costs incurred!

"The cost of continuing with the extended Stanleys trial scheme is very expensive. With no way of being able to fund the full expansion of the scheme District wide, this Council cannot justify such expenditure within such a comparatively small area" . Cllr. Libby Bird

Reverting to the old process on 30th April, Leonard Stanley will then have landfill collections (weekly) and recycling (fortnightly) - collections on Wednesdays.

Landfill collection will not use the wheelie bins but revert to using black plastic sacks. If you wish to get rid of the wheelie bin you will have one opportunity on Monday 8th June.

End of the trial
