NEWS - ARCTIC SAFARI SUPPER What a fantastic night we had and unbelievably successful as far as raising money was concerned. We can’t believe how lucky we were with the weather – a dry, ice-free night which made walking around the village almost pleasant. In total 79 people took part and, with the exception of 8, everybody else came from the village.
Menus ranged enormously. A few dishes were Posh Cheese on toast (Godsell’s of course!), Prawn Cocktail, Puffball, Artichoke, Red Pepper Chilli and Lime, and Mushroom Soups, Rabbit, Salmon, Home Made Cornish Pasties, Boeuf Bourginon and loads of wonderful home made puddings - Walnut Meringue, Eton Mess, Chocolate Bread & Butter Pudding to name but a few. We all ate lots of locally produced, grown or picked produce.
Like any other events, there are several thank yous to those people who helped make the evening run smoothly.
The Committee would like to thank the following:
To all the hosts for their wonderful cooking; Jono Watson for printing our beautiful tickets, etc.;; David Newton for donating his apple wine (delicious!); Philip Taubenheim for the ease in which he got us to part with our money during the auction; Lynne/Stuart Craddock and Philip and Sharon Taubenheim for topping and tailing the event; to all of those who donated auction items. We had a staggering 22 items to sell. Originally we had planned for, maybe, 5 or 6, so it was brilliant we had so many donations.
And finally – to all those wonderful people who took part by just turning up to eat. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH.
As a result we have managed to raise a staggering sum of £1260!! which will be given to the After School Club. Will we do it again? This was a question asked by many on their way out. You bet we will. Next time it will be a Mid Summer one. Our thanks again.
The Committee – Lynne Craddock, Lorna Mankee, Liz McNab-Jones, Maggi Mukasa, Sharon/Philip Taubenheim.
