A HUGE thank you to everybody who took part in the fair this year.  We feel the fair went really well and we cannot believe how lucky we were with the weather.

We have so many people to thank.  Without their help the fair wouldn’t have gone ahead.  So here goes – in no particular order:

  • Noel Baker for his brilliant photography. (Check below)
  • Jill Hutchins and the WI for brilliant refreshments
  • The raffle donators
  • The road representatives selling raffle tickets – Jean Shepherd, Carol Maguire, Nicky Gaunt, Craig Jones, Maureen Hale, Marjorie Gardener, Alison Bird, Vernon Cubberd, Pat Hearne, Reg and Edna Helson, Leesa Cole, Becky Offord, Amy Matthews and Betsy Cox
  • Dave Pullen for the loan of his field
  • Jono Watson for printing of programmes
  • The Godsell family for their prize winning cheese
  • Leonard Stanley School for loaning furniture and equipment
  • Sue Tabb for teaching the country dancers
  • Sue Tabb and Kay Kenyon for organising the programme designs
  • Mike Merrett for First Aid help
  • Simon Stroud who presented the Fair
  • The White Hart for the beer tent
  • Steve Lydon and scouts for help on the car park
  • All those who helped on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with bunting, tables etc.
  • Everybody who helped on the rota
  • Parish Council for help with Public Liability Insurance
  • Our produce judges, Audrey Webb, Jane Pain, Pete Davies, Noel Baker, Claire Cullins and Madelane Little
  • Ruariridh Gaunt for finding a tug of war rope and supervising the Tug of War
  • All the stall holders
  • David Turner for the loan of the skittles
  • Anybody else who I have forgotten and FINALLY…a BIG thank you to everybody for coming and spending the afternoon on the playing field. The atmosphere was lovely and it was brilliant to see a wide range of ages and so many villagers.

What about the money?  At this early stage we are still not sure how much we made but we know it wasn’t as much as last year.  This year we have invested in a good quality marquee, new banners and electrical goods.  We had to hire fire extinguishers as part of Health and Safety which were annoyingly expensive.  In addition to this all our other ongoing costs had risen this year.  This coupled with the fact that we decided not to charge for programmes or entry will make a difference to our final figure.  We spent a lot of money hiring the bouncy castle, assault course and climbing wall and hope everybody enjoyed them.  When we have a final figure we will let you know.

If anybody has any ideas for future fairs we would love to know.  We would also welcome feedback, good or bad, so we can improve each year.

If anybody would like to buy a copy of all the photographs on CD, please ring 822318 or 821674 and for £1 you can have a copy of all of the photographs.

Thanks again from the Leonard Stanley Village Fair Committee, Nicky Gaunt, Pat Hearne, Harvey and Bobbie Ireland, Craig and Kate Jones, Ann and Mark McTaggart, Paul and Maggi Mukasa.
